Get started with EFTPOS Air
Before you apply, you’ll need to have a Westpac business transaction account to receive settlements into.
1. Open
If you don't have a Business Transaction account yet, open a Business One, Business One Plus or Community Solutions Account.5
2. Apply
Apply online for an EFTPOS Air merchant facility if you are a sole trader, company or association.
For other business types such as partnerships and trusts, please call us on 1800 029 749 (8am-8pm, Sydney time, Mon-Fri).
Applications for EFTPOS Air are typically reviewed within one business day.
3. Download
Once approved, download the EFTPOS Air app to your compatible device and log in to start taking payments.

The EFTPOS Air app is free to download. All you pay is a 1.4% transaction fee when you use the app to accept card and mobile device payments.3
Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.4 or later and a supported payment app. The device must be logged into iCloud and set with Face ID, Touch ID or Passcode. Some contactless cards may not be accepted by your payment app.
Android phones and tablets will need to be Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled and running on one of the supported Android Operating Systems (OS) listed at https://help.eftposair.westpac.com.au/compatibility/, which may change from time to time.
EFTPOS Air payments are processed by Westpac using security features that have been specifically developed to enable mobile transactions. Payments made through your mobile device will be just as secure as those made through our physical EFTPOS machines.
If your device is lost or stolen, password protection and the ability to sign out remotely from the EFTPOS Air Portal will help protect you against fraud.
You’ll need an Internet connection on your device to take payments. EFTPOS Air can connect through 4G, 5G and Wi-Fi.
Yes, you can use EFTPOS Air to track your cash payments and calculate change.
No. If all you want to do is take payments, choose Simple Mode rather than Retail Mode.

Yes, EFTPOS Air allows you to accept payments across multiple devices and users at the same time. When applying, you can select how many users you want to accept payments at the same time. If you already have EFTPOS Air, please call us on 1800 029 749 (Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm Sydney time). Alternatively, request a callback for our team to contact you directly. Once set up, you can use the EFTPOS Air Portal and App to manage your users, roles, and permissions.
No, EFTPOS Air can only accept in-person contactless card payments. If you’d like to accept manual entry or MOTO payments, please call us on 1800 029 749 (Mon- Fri, 8am-8pm Sydney time) to discuss our other payment solutions.
You can sign in to Xero via the EFTPOS Air app, which securelyconnects EFTPOS Air to your Xero account. This allows you to automatically synchronise your invoices, payments and customers to Xero - making reconciliation easy, visit the EFTPOS Air Help Centre for more information.

3. 1.4% flat rate pricing: Applies to eftpos, Mastercard and Visa payments by card, mobile wallet, or wearable.
5. Business Transaction accounts: Before making a decision about any of our Business Transaction Accounts, please read the terms and conditions available at westpac.com.au/transaction-accounts. Fees may be incurred for certain electronic transactions such as foreign transactions and withdrawals from some overseas ATMs. Customers must be able to meet any applicable fees and charges. For a complete view of fees, please refer to our Terms and Condition (PDF 830KB).
Read the Westpac Online Banking Terms and Conditions (PDF 1MB) before making a decision. Not all accounts are eligible to be included in a bank feed. Not all third-party service providers support bank feeds for all accounts.
Bank feeds must be set up with third-party service provider before it can be connected in Westpac Online Banking. If your third-party service provider doesn’t appear in the drop-down menu in Westpac Online Banking, you may need to check that your third-party service provider is registered with Westpac. Should there be any changes to your user access or network access levels, you may need to disconnect your bank feed(s) as any access changes won’t impact bank feeds. The products and services offered by third-party service providers are subject to their own terms and conditions and fees and charges. Westpac doesn’t guarantee or endorse the services or products offered by third-party service providers.
6. When applying for EFTPOS Air, you can nominate the number of users that will be taking payments at the same time. If you already have EFTPOS Air and require additional users to take payments, please call us on 1800 029 749 (8am-8pm Sydney time, Mon-Fri).
